Dear Josb,
Financial institutions are under immense regulatory pressure and are required to comply with stringent regulations designed to prevent market abuse. It is increasingly complicated to sort through reams of data, an obligation whose global cost has spiraled to more than $50B a year. This complex problem has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in many employees working remotely, making it almost impossible to centralize the flow of information.
OurCrowd is reinvesting in Shield, an Israeli startup that has created an AI-powered SaaS workplace intelligence platform which monitors and analyzes employee interactions for fraud, insider trading, market abuse and misconduct. The details in this email are based on information received from, and verified solely by, the company.
Oversubscribed Round
Since this investment was first offered on the OurCrowd platform in July, the $20M round is now oversubscribed. All investors have increased allocation, including one of the world's largest bank which has invested in the round.
Because of OurCrowd's special relationship with Shield, we can continue to offer OurCrowd investors exclusive access to this round for a limited period.
Doubling Pipeline in 2022
Shield doubled its client base in the past year to 12, which now include Tier-1 global banks, asset managers, hedge funds and commodity trading firms. It currently has active opportunities/POCs with three Tier-1 global banks. It's also in the final stages of ten RFPs for Tier-1 firms in EMEA and NA which could be worth over $8M in ARR.
Shield has zero churn and 140% net dollar retention.
New Partnership Agreements
Shield has signed an agreement with Intelligent Voice, a leading specialist in voice and audio analysis solutions. The deal will enhance Shield's voice surveillance capabilities on its platform.
KLDiscovery, a leading global provider of electronic discovery, information governance and data recovery solution has licensed and integrated Shield's technology in its own archive-based platform, expanding its data source coverage.
Expansion to US Market
Shield is doubling the head count of its US team which will focus on sales and marketing. The company has also brought in a senior US sales & strategy manager to guide the department.
Initial Traction
Shield's ARR grew 119% from the end of Q1 2021 to end of Q1 2022 and the company projects 2X ARR YOY growth in 2022. Helped by its SaaS business model, Shield's profit margin stands at 80%.
