SaNOtize: Top-tier VC invests $10M
A leading international VC firm is throwing its support behind SaNOtize's virus-killing spray, joining the company's Series B round with a $10M investment. Clinical trials around the world have shown SaNOtize's nitric oxide-based spray to be safe and highly effective in early treatment of patients with coronavirus. It's now sold in 10 countries, registered as a Class I medical device in the EU, and has ongoing approval procedures in other jurisdictions. The Lancet Regional Health Southeast Asia published successful Phase 3 clinical trial results that showed a 3-day median time to a negative PCR test for adult Covid-19 patients using the spray, vs. 7 days in the placebo group. SaNOtize has also been granted regulatory approval in India along with Indian partner Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. OurCrowd has secured an additional $1M allocation in this $25M round, only available until August 12th.
Volkswagen signs $4B supply deal with Innoviz
Volkswagen signed a $4B deal with our portfolio company Innoviz (NASDAQ: INVZ) to buy LiDAR sensors and perception software, TechCrunch reports. The components will be used on all Volkswagen group vehicles with automated driving capabilities. Innoviz will work directly with CARIAD, VW's automotive software company, to integrate Innoviz's technology into upcoming VW vehicles. "We are thrilled to work with the CARIAD team and be a supplier of LiDAR sensors and perception software to support safe mobility for vehicles launching from the middle of the decade," says Omer Keilaf, CEO and Co-founder of Innoviz. "CARIAD is a leading player in the transformation of the whole automotive space. We are proud to be part of their mission." This is Innoviz's third design win with a major automaker, and its first deal as a Tier-1 supplier.
Cellium launches EdgeAir indoor wireless system
Affordable indoor wireless connectivity took another big step forward as our portfolio company Cellium launched its patented EdgeAir system. The platform's unique active antenna system is a technology-agnostic solution that provides superior, low-cost wireless performance for indoor LTE and 5G networks. Indoor coverage for these networks is a must-solve problem. "With the global adoption of 5G moving at a rapid pace, the question still remains on how to solve the inbuilding penetration conundrum and how to provide cost-effective, high-throughput indoor wireless connectivity," says Dror Jerushalmi, Cellium's CEO. "Cellium is well positioned to tackle these challenges with the launch of its groundbreaking EdgeAir active antenna system, which is suitable for both mobile operators and private enterprise customers." Cellium is currently funding.
C2A Security releases cybersecurity platform for EV ecosystem
While electric vehicle (EV) charging networks are an exciting development, they open a new cybersecurity vulnerability. C2A Security released its EVSec management system which automates cybersecurity for the EV ecosystem, including the vehicle, charging station, grid and communications protocol. The centralized platform is also automated, creating transparency and collaboration for and between clients. "Electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure present cybersecurity challenges to OEMs, suppliers, charging station operators and many other stakeholders in this vast ecosystem," says Roy Fridman, CEO at C2A Security. "Only through a centralized, automated and managed security approach can players in the ecosystem share security information, understand risk and mitigate new vulnerabilities." C2A Security is currently partnered with one of the biggest energy companies in the world, which is currently deploying EV charging stations across Asia. C2A Security is currently funding on the OurCrowd platform.
Meet the startups at Labs/02
In July, OurCrowd's early-stage fund and incubator Labs/02 hosted a startup showcase with CEOs from seven early-stage startups across a range of sectors discussing their company's technology, business model and value proposition for investors. The event led to a flurry of new introductions that could help these companies flourish. OurCrowd investors are invited to check out these young startups and take an active part in their development.
