Dear Josb,
The search for alternative protein sources to replace intensive farming and battery chickens is gathering pace. McDonald's, Nestle, Kellogg's, Campbell's, Walmart, Unilever and Kraft are among more than 400 brands that have pledged to become 100% cage free by 2026.
The EVERY Company has produced the world's first products using egg protein without any birds. Egg protein is an irreplaceable ingredient in bread, wine, pasta, baked goods, desserts, spreads and countless other mass market products. Successful innovation would disrupt a $200B global market.
OurCrowd is investing in The EVERY Company. The details in this email are based on information received from, and verified solely by, the company.
First retail products
Since OurCrowd first offered this investment opportunity in March, the company launched its second retail product, EVERY EggWhite, which offers the taste and culinary functionality of egg whites prized by bakers and chefs, but made without a single chicken. This is the world's first egg-white protein produced via precision fermentation to be offered to consumers.
To celebrate this milestone, EVERY partnered with Chantal Guillon — an acclaimed Californian patisserie — to produce the first-ever animal-free macaron, which went on sale in late March.
EVERY's first product was its ClearEgg protein, launched with Pressed Juicery in 2021, enabling the production of animal-free smoothies.
The problem
The world population is growing fast and food supplies cannot keep pace. Intensive farming, including industrial egg production using battery hens, is unsustainable, causing grave environmental harm, and creating animal conditions that are becoming increasingly unacceptable to many consumers. While plant-based products have replaced proteins in milk, meat, fish and other foodstuffs, they have been unable to replicate the unique formula of egg whites for a mass market.
The solution
EVERY replaces chicken-made egg protein through precision fermentation, which uses recombinant DNA techniques to program yeast with chicken genes and feeding the yeast with sugar to create real egg proteins using a process similar to brewing beer. Precision fermentation is the only technology capable of producing real animal proteins affordably and sustainably. Unlike plant-based alternatives, EVERY produces the exact same proteins as those from animals at scale.
The company
EVERY (formerly known as Clara Foods) is led by a strong team with deep food industry experience. EVERY enjoys a first-mover advantage with a five-year head start over anyone else entering the market to produce animal-free egg protein and has no established direct competitors.

Partnerships: AB InBev, Ingredion
The company has a strategic partnership with ZX Ventures, the global investment and innovation group of Anheuser-Busch InBev (EBR: ABI), the world's largest brewer. EVERY will draw on AB InBev's centuries of expertise in scaled, food-grade fermentation and downstream processing gained from large-scale brewing processes. Through this partnership, ZX Ventures and EVERY are exploring the development of sustainable, animal-free egg protein 'brewed' at large scale, replacing the need for EVERY to make multimillion-dollar investments in plant and machinery.
EVERY's chickenless egg proteins will be also sold globally by Ingredion, a leading Fortune 500 ingredients distributor, for use in food and beverages.
The round
EVERY's $175M Series C round was heavily oversubscribed. The round was co-led by McWin and Rage Capital, an investment fund focused on alternative proteins. OurCrowd aims to purchase Series A/A-1 Preferred Stock of the company by means of a special arrangement with existing shareholders.
